Candle Care

Artisanal candles require a little extra care and attention. The effort will ensure your candle burns cleanly and that you get the maximum enjoyment from it.

  • The First Burn Matters

Allow your candle to develop a large melt pool. This typically takes from 3-4 hours for the first burn. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn every time.

  • Trim Your Wick

Before every burn, trim your wick to ¼ inch. Trimming the wick removes "mushrooming" and ensures that the flame will be the proper height. It also helps to prevent excess soot, and uneven flames — keeping your burn clean and safe.

  • Limit Burn Time

Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Extinguish, let it cool completely, trim the wick, then relight. This prevents the vessel from overheating and the fragrance from burning off too quickly.

  • Extinguish Safely

Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish the candle. Make sure it is completely extinguished before replacing the lid.

  • Keep Clean

Ensure that your candle is free of any foreign materials or wick trimmings to prevent flare-ups. If any soot develops, wipe it away before burning again.

  • Store with Care

Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Heat and light can fade the fragrance and discolor the wax over time.

  • Avoid Drafts

Keep your candle away from fans, open windows, and air vents. Drafts cause uneven burning, excess smoke, and can be a fire hazard.

  • Burn Within Sight

Never leave a candle unattended while burning. Make sure your candle is out of reach from children and pets. Keep away from flammable materials.

  • Heat-Resistant Surface

Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface and stable to prevent damage.
